 New Hope Communications         http://www.newhope.com/
Organize the Natural Health Foods Trade Shows East (~ 10K attendance) and West (~ 20K attendance), probably by far the largest trade shows for the natural food industry. Every manufacturer of natural foods or supplements probably feels that it must present its products at one or both trade shows. Every retailer would likely try to attend at least one show every year. The shows use “gurus” to lecture on topics ranging from alternative medicine to how to make money selling supplements or how to live a happy life. They provide a mixture of lectures covering alternative medicine, folk remedies, management, profit making, strategies to bring customers to stores, etc.
They publish leading magazines including Natural Food Merchandizing, aimed at stored managers (presents new products), Delicious magazine (aimed at consumers, stores apparently can purchase it at huge discounts and give it away to customers; they tie in promotions with advertisements and articles), Nutrition Science News (a description of studies that appear to support the health-benefits of supplements).

He is one of the “thinkers” of the alternative/complementary medicine movement. He has various “think tanks” and companies that make various products, see his websites for details.
Key research areas include the immune system, antioxidants, and gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. R Lerman, MD, PhD is now his medical research director.
